High Level Group of Company Law Experts on a Modern Regulatory Framework for Company Law in Europe
This group was appointed by the European Commission in 2001 and charged with making recommendations regarding Company Law in Europe. The final report was released in November 2002 and is available at:
European Corporate Governance Forum
In its 2003 Action Plan on modernising company law and enhancing corporate governance in the European Union the Commission considered it a priority to encourage the coordination and convergence of national codes through regular high-level meetings of a European Corporate Governance Forum. This Forum met a number of times per year between 2004-2011. One member of the group was linked to the trade union movement.
Besides an annual report on its activities, the European Corporate Governance Forum also published occasional reports on a number of corporate governance issues. The minutes of its meetings are made available on the website of the EU Commission.
Corporate Governance Advisory Group
On 28 April 2005 the European Commission set up an expert advisory group to provide detailed advice on corporate governance and company law matters. In contrast to the European Corporate Governance Forum, which was concerned with the political agenda, the Advisory group was more technical in nature.
The group consisted of non-governmental experts from various professional backgrounds with particular experience and knowledge of the subject. One member of the group was linked to the trade union movement. More information and the minutes of the meetings can be found on the website of the EU Commission.
Reflection Group on the Future of EU Company Law
The Reflection Group on the future of EU company law was established in December 2010 by the European Commission to provide a report for a conference to be held in Brussels on 16 and 17 May 2011. The report is available at:
